About MRSA and Staph

.     What you should know about " MRSA and STAPH "..... MRSA is a type of STAPH infection that has become resistant to antibiotics and can become very serious.
       
       Patients in hospitals, Nursing Homes and health care facilities such as, Dialysis Centers are most at risk for serious infections. When open wounds, or when tubes are inserted their bodies which provide a pathway for infection to  
be carried through the blood stream, their internal organs and their bones.

  1. So how does one prevent such an infection? I am going to have a mid knee disarticulation/amputation in 2 weeks and am shocked at how unconcerned everybody seems to be about the chance of infection--no educational information at all. Any suggestions?
